Yard dog….

Posted by: Lexi @ 11:26 am

Me & Dingo

Pardon the cell phone pics. Ravi took these just a few weeks ago (maybe less) and now Dingo is officially a “yard dog”. Meaning, sorry… no more snuggling under my covers unless you have had a bath. And the ticks! Oh the ticks! :shudder: I noticed them a few days ago and Ravi has been dutifully picking them off until I can afford to buy some tick medication. I hate ticks, I loathe them even. With a passion.

But Ding-dog is indifferent. He romps about the yard gleefully. He looks incessantly for the cat. He hangs with his buddy Sequoia and pesters Allie (my housemates dogs). He barks at passersby. At homeless people. At neighbors. At random sounds he hears. At the cat if he finds her.

And the mud. He has discovered all the places at the house where water can be found and then he gets into it. And gets himself all muddy and gross. And apparently gets his muddy paws on Ravi. Dingo is a FULL shade lighter due to the dust that is constantly covering his fur. If you pat him a cloud of dust puffs off of him.

Fortunately, our lovely outdoor shower will soon have hot water and so I will soon be bathing outside for the most part and there Dingo can join me. And then he can snuggle in the bed. But not under the covers anymore.

and in two weeks…

two new squidies

I will officially be utilizing my degree! That’s right, I got a new job! Yay! I have to put in my two weeks notice today, but I am officially going to be a Photographers Assistant. While this entails mostly work in the business aspect (i.e. talking to her clients, selling her product, working with photoshop and all that jazz) it also means a HUGE opportunity for me to learn and grow. I have been hoping a job like this would come around at some point since I graduated. Who knew I would ever find something like that here in Tucson? I’m really excited.

Above are two squids I finished recently. The Salmon colored one flew across the south and northwest to Plush You! She’ll be part of my three pieces for that show… The yellow one well… the yellow one was supposed to be for Plush You but I liked her so much I couldn’t part with her. So I’ve decided to keep it…. although in a few weeks who knows? I may stick her in my etsy shop. We’ll see….

But I’m feeling a little happier, a little more secure and stable and ready to move on.

Mishri & Masala
A photo of my Fisher’s lovebird, Mishri, with my new pacific parrotlet, Masala. Aren’t they precious together? Mishri thinks Masala is his girlfriend.
Below, some stuff I want. Especially the elephant journal. Isn’t it adorable??
The next post will be plushie filled….

a serious conundrum

Posted by: Lexi @ 1:48 pm
I like this. I want this. Yeah.
Now, here is my problem. I finished my Gangly Squid plush for Plush You last night. And I fell in love. I never do this!!! I usually like most of my plushies, and some more than others, but I never ever have a problem listing them on etsy and seeing them go away to their new homes. Sometimes I feel sad for certain ones, because I really liked them, but never so much that I would consider keeping them. But this squid… it has captured my heart.
All of my stuff is supposed to be in Seattle by SATURDAY! I have two monsters which are complete and ready to go, but I am not sure if I can bear to part with my squid. Which means, I am actually thinking about making another NEW squid tonight, in a mad rush, so they can all be shipped out tomorrow. :gulp: What is wrong with me?!

I have gone mad. Honestly.

Slow progress…

Posted by: Lexi @ 1:07 pm

So I realized that I never blogged about this super cool mini orange camera necklace that Ravi got me for my birthday. Isn’t is sweet? Unfortunately the right opportunity or event to wear it to has yet to present itself. (Not really a work appropriate item) The coolest thing about it is that it is really one of those view finder things and when you hold it up to the light and click the button you get to see an array of wild animals. Very cute.

Progress in the Plush making catagory has been so slow. I am nearly done with a larger version of my gangly squid to send to Plush You, and hopefully I will get everything finished tonight and sent out tomorrow. Wish me luck.

And without further ado, my own flickr version of Cute Overload:

Lately

Posted by: Lexi @ 6:53 pm
I kinda really love this. And want it. So very adorable and sweet.
Lately nothing has been going my way and I am feeling depressed and overwhelmed and just bad in general. I keep thinking things will pick up, but how long should a person have to wait? I guess some of it is my fault, but blah! I got a ticket yesterday for pastdue tags. New tags for my car cost about $300. I don’t have $300. I won’t have that any time soon either. The ticket is like over $100. sigh. And I haven’t finished my stuff for Plush You either. I have two that are possibilities and I am working on a squid right now that I think will come out nicely. I’d like to make about 4 more things so I have choice, but I am either really busy or feeling so down on myself that I just can’t work. I told Ravi that he is my muse and needs to be there while I am working, which I am sure he hates, but… having company is so nice. I think when I am feeling happy and light, I don’t mind being alone. But at times when I am feeling down I just hate being alone. I cry when I am alone.

Okay enough of that. This is a drawing I recently did, scanned in and colored digitally. I like the way it came out and if I had the time ( or money) I’d love to have a few printed as postcards with my website on the back to send along with my stuff to Plush You. Ah well.. perhaps I can send the plushies in by the deadline and send the postcards in before the show.

The girl who sells these on etsy finally got more and I ordered some up right away! I love them, they are so adorable. They are still in a little box at Ravi’s place (cuz I don’t know my address so I have stuff shipped to him) but soon they will be photographed at my place, looking adorable. In any case, life throw me a bone already. I’m really starting to wonder if my karma is that bad…

A thrifty mornin’…. (in more ways than one!)

Posted by: Lexi @ 1:33 pm

Woke up, interneted, cuddled my pooch… left the house to get my birth control (FREE, thank you government health care!), got some lunch from Costco (FREE, thank you gift card from mom), picked up my new glasses (already paid for, thanks mom, again!), filled my tank up with affordable costco gas (ALSO FREE, thanks to the same gift card)… then headed over to a thrift store I like and found these adorable fake birdies ($3.50 for all of them). They are so adorable! I don’t know what exactly I’m going to do with them. They may just sit on my art desk and look adorable or they may go in shadow boxes or something.

Either way, I LURVE them.

p.s. boo, Ravi took his D70 with him to Seattle so I had to use my other digicam. They are noisy, and out of focus. BOO!
