and right after that can someone please beat the happy into me with a baseball bat? i’m not sure how else to make it happen for me. i’ve tried and tried and tried to be chipper but it isn’t working. i just feel so sad.

I really adore this project by Somethings Hiding in Here. I submitted my phase, “oh dear…” today. :) Oh dear is something I say probably 15 to 20 times per day and I can’t get enough of it.   My boss Paige and Ravi are really sick of hearing it I think since they are exposed to my “oh dears” the most. I think it would be the perfect phrase for the sign!! Hehe.

In other news, I’m back from Burning Man. And I have lots of photos to share but that is going to be another post entirely. I realized I completely forgot to post my celphalopod photos to my blog before I left so here they are:

Made this Squid a few days ago. It is a commission that is going all the way to Japan! I really, really liked how it turned out.

ALSO! I am going to Burning Man this year and it is ONE WEEK AWAY! Time flies! Anyway, I am making some clothes to wear there, mostly from the Generation T book that I borrowed from Lou… And here is my first creation! I really like it…, it’s pretty comfortable. I’ve already had a nip-slip or two but that shouldn’t be an issue at Burning Man… :D

For people who don’t know, most of the secrets are displayed along the side of a circular staircase that gradually rises to the third floor of the museum. As the couple slowly ascended the stairs she read every PostSecret postcard. He knew she would because it had been her idea to attend the exhibit.

What she did not know was that earlier he had made a special arrangement with me to replace the last post card with a special one he had created just for her see.

When they reached the top of the stairs she read the final card, “I don’t know if I believe in God, but I believe something Great brought you into my life. If you turn around I’ll ask you to marry me. . . “

Rebecca went on to say that when the young woman turned around her future husband was on bended knee with an illuminated ring box holding a 6-carat (!) diamond. She said “yes” with tears and to spontaneous applause from the other visitors who were hoping to witness a happy ending.

I thought I would take a break from my Olympics watching / squid making to blog about some crafty goodness and other things… I made this tripod commission a few days ago and used wool felt for the first time and I am absolutely smitten. The felt cut like butter and was so easy to work with. It looks fantastic. I don’t know if I can ever go back to any other type of felt. If only wool felt wasn’t so expensive! Alas…

In other crafty news, Jason of Red Hot Robot is hosting a really cool Plush Show coming up in October that I am going to participate in and he is currently accepting artists for the show. Shoot him an e-mail if you are interested. His shop is awesome and I think the show is going to be killer.

I have a bunch of squids cut out and by tonight I should be nearly caught up on commissions and I will also have squids IN MY SHOP by the end of the week. I haven’t had an actually squid in my shop in over a year I think. Pretty crazy. Everything I have made since that first one I put in my shop has either been a commission or for a show. :)
